Dealership History
Wayne Toyota was founded by the previous Dealer Principal, Wayne Marostica.
The automotive trade has a long history in the Marostica family. Wayne's father Joseph was a sales manager for most of his life, and two of Wayne's uncles worked for local car dealerships. As a result, Wayne grew up surrounded by the hustle and bustle of the automobile industry, and always had a dream of someday owning his own dealership. In 1978 his dream became reality, and Wayne Toyota, known then as Go-Mar Motors Ltd, opened its doors. It has remained a family owned and oriented dealership since those first days. The family nature of the business still continues today, as Wayne's son Michael was appointed as the Dealer Principal by Toyota Canada Inc. in 2008.
During the "early" years, alongside Toyota, the dealership also housed a BMW and Yamaha franchise. In the mid 1980's, the Yamaha franchise was transferred to a separate location and eventually sold. In 1987, and in celebration of its ninth anniversary, the dealership underwent a significant physical expansion. At the same time, the company changed its operating name from Go-Mar Motors Ltd to Wayne Toyota (a division of Go-Mar Motors Ltd).
Wayne Toyota believes in the value of community spirit and supports a number of community organizations, from youth hockey, soccer and baseball, to charity golf tournaments. Many members of our staff work within the community on a volunteer basis, and are committed to making Thunder Bay a better place to live.
Thirty years since its grand opening day, Wayne Toyota continues to provide its customers big city service, with a small town feel.
