Toyota hybrid electric vehicles are built with the same dedication to quality that you expect from Toyota. Which is why they come with the same basic warranty as every Toyota vehicle, backed up with additional Limited Warranty Coverages.

BEVs are zero-emission vehicles that are powered by electricity alone. BEVs require plugging-in, while also utilizing regenerative braking to recharge the onboard battery as you drive.

How it works

​​​​In place of an internal combustion engine, BEVs are powered by a large battery pack and high-output electric motors. Because it runs on electricity alone, BEVs emit no exhaust from the tailpipe. BEV batteries are recharged to some degree as you drive, largely through regenerative braking. However, BEVs must be plugged into a wall outlet or charging equipment to achieve a full charge in order to deliver the full benefits of their electric-only operation.

Charging
Charging a BEV is simple. Just plug it in. At home, at work, or at any public charging station. Charging times will vary depending on whether you are using Level 1, 2 or 3 charging.

Level 1: Standard Charge your BEV using a standard 120-volt AC wall socket. The slowest way to charge, it can also be the most convenient and requires no special equipment.

Level 2: Faster A 240-volt AC outlet can cut BEV charging times in half. Install one at home, or charge up at any Level 2 public station.

Level 3: Fastest Direct Current (DC) Chargers (480V+) are currently the fastest method of charging your vehicle. Canada has more than 5,000 public charging stations – 500 of which are Level 3 fast chargers.

Warranty
Toyota bZ4X comes with the same basic warranty as every Toyota vehicle, backed up with additional Limited Warranty Coverages.

FCEVs use hydrogen as an energy source to power high-output electric motors, emitting water as the only by-product from the tailpipe.

How it works

A hydrogen fuel-cell electric vehicle (FCEV) uses on-board fuel cells to generate electricity from hydrogen and oxygen that in turn is used to power an electric motor. An FCEV, like the Toyota Mirai, XLE only takes about five minutes refuel, emits only water from its exhaust, and has a range of up to 647 km on a full tank*.
Fueling time varies with hydrogen fueling pressure and ambient temperature.

* Range of up to 647km (2022 Mirai XLE) and up to 602km (2022 Mirai Limited) based on Government of Canada approved test methodology for fuel cell electric vehicles. Estimated FCEV range rating when hydrogen tanks are completely full. Actual mileage traveled will vary and is dependent on many factors such as traffic, road and weather conditions, vehicle maintenance, refueling practices, driving speed and style, fuel cell age, battery age, and cargo load.

*Our tanks are designed not to leak- Our multi-patented, carbon-fiber-wrapped, polymer-lined hydrogen tanks, are built in a three-layer structure and absorb five times the crash energy of steel.

*In a high speed collision, sensors stop the flow of hydrogen- To prevent hydrogen from traveling to potentially damaged systems outside of the tank, the system automatically shuts the tank’s hydrogen output valve.

*An leaked hydrogen is quickly dispersed- All hydrogen-related parts are located outside the cabin and designed to help ensure leaked hydrogen doesn’t build up.

*Hydrogen escapes safely into the atmosphere- Since hydrogen gas is lighter than air, it rapidly disperses, reducing the potential for damage in the event of an ignition.
